Reflection Questions: Holocaust Video, Chapter 1

1. What details about the Holocaust experience became clearer or more vivid for you because of the video?

Some details that became more clearer for me was the amount of people killed at Auschwitz how more than 1 million Jews died in that one concentration camp. That amount people who died is just like a small state or a very populated city vanishing out of nowhere.

2.Describe the video techniques used to tell this story:
  • Camera angles
  • Graphics
  • Interviewing
  • Excerpts from the book
There were a variety of camera angles and they were flowed throughout the video nicely. The excerpts from the book were really appealing. It gave a very intense and meaningful feel to it. The excerpts literally makes the book "come alive". the interview was very interesting. The way it was presented quietly was a perfect way to interview a person in something so serious like this. The interview gave so much information and kept me thinking about the horror and sadness that came over in Auschwitz.

3. What is the "madness" the Oprah and Elie Wiesel speak of at the end of this section?

The "madness" is how inhumane the Germans were. It was for Elie to believe in humanity after he witnessed all the things that happened in Auschwitz.
