Metaphor Reflection
When it came to choosing my metaphor, I didn't really have any problem trying to figuring out what it would be. Then I concluded that my personality is similar to a Sonatina.
I chose to be a Sonatina because it is similar to me in different ways. What brought me to get inspired and come up with what to say in my poem, I just played different Sonatinas and listened to the way they sounded like--how loud or soft it is, or if it is sad sounding, outgoing or both. I began to think that the whole structure of a Sonatina does suit me well. So it wasn't too difficult in writing my poem. I implemented, in my poem, descriptive words including verbs. I thought about the way Sonatinas sound, and I put that in my poem--that Sonatinas start of sounding quiet and then becomes louder and opens up just like me, and many other things.
The main poetic technique I used was the use of rhyming. I really wanted my poem to stand out, be fun to read, and show "me" in it as well. So, my poem came out rhyming and became very rhythmic. In my camera/editing techniques, it was a MUST to have me playing a Sonatina on the video and have a Sonatina piano song playing in the background. And that was what I did. Although it was a challenge to record on the video camera of me playing the piano, I pulled through and did whatever I could to make what I wanted happen. So I ended up having clips of me and friends in my video showing that I am outgoing and such, and of course I also had me playing a Sonatina on different clips and having that Sonatina song as background music.
Throughout the whole process, I have learned so much about poetry. I came to realize that poetry is very unique and that it is really important to have "voice" in it so that the poem comes alive in some way. Doing this project, creating my own poem, I got to do that. I implemented my own voice into my poem, and it came out into something that was even better then I expected.
